Free Monthly Movement & Dance Workshops
a fun, high-energy, sweat-dripping 2 hours!
*** Attendees do NOT have to stay for the full 2 hours. Participants may choose to join for the full workshop, for the first hour only, OR for the second hour only. ***
Part 1: In the first hour we go through the basic movement mechanics, techniques, & foundational steps of dance styles such as: West African, Afrobeat, Afro-Caribbean, Latin, Contemporary Street Jazz, and Street styles (Hip-hop, Vogue, Whaacking, House, etc.). We begin with a breathing exercise & warm-up/workout to prep the body, then a foundation/step/technique breakdown at center floor to help build mind-body connection & awareness. We then take the steps across the floor and practice moving with the steps/technique around the space for body conditioning and to promote muscle memory. This is for beginner & all level movers.
Part 2: In the second hour, we take the steps we learned and combine them to create choreography. This is a more advanced level part of class and is great for experienced dancers & movers that want to work on: movement quality & execution, choreography retention, performance, stamina, etc.
